Friday Five

1. How are you planning to spend the summer [winter]?
See previous posting on June 21. Those plus working.

2. What was your first summer job?
Working at my family's Dunkin' Donuts/ Baskin Robbins store. It was great fun- lots of free donuts and ice cream!

3. If you could go anywhere this summer [winter], where would you go?
Hm... if I didn't have to work, I would definitely go backpacking around Europe. (But where would I get the money to go??!)

4. What was your worst vacation ever?
I don't think I've ever had a bad vacation. But the most boring vacation I've been on was probably my second trip to Maine, where we stayed at a resort all week. The resort was, like, in the middle of nowhere! I guess a lot of people like that for relaxing and getting away from it all, but when I'm on vacation I can't relax, I have to go exploring!

5. What was your best vacation ever?
I've had so many amazing vacations. The first one was in 1996 when I went to Disney World in Florida. It was my dream come true! And yes people, Disney World is indeed the happiest place on earth. I was so glad that my first trip to Disney happened when I was a lot older- I was able to appreciate all the artistry that went into everything there. Another great vacation was in 1998 to Calgary, where I got to visit the Rocky Mountains- my first time experiencing the Rockies. They're so beautiful and breathtaking. *sigh* Then in 2000 I visited Europe for the very first time. I visited London, Paris, Pisa, Florence, and Rome and was able to see so many great works of art that I had only read about in books. C'était magnifique!

Vegas, Here I Come

Today my family booked a trip to Las Vegas for next week! We're staying at The Venetian located on The Strip across from The Bellagio... oooh...aaah! I want to experience that Ocean's Eleven moment when the gang admires the fountain to the playing of Debussy's Claire de Lune.

The Venetian is modelled after Venice, Italy with canals, gondola rides, and a replica of St. Mark's Square. This is perfect as I love Italy and have never been to Venezia! :P Not to mention the room we're staying in: it's 700 sq. ft. with a sunken living room! Woah baby! The hotel also has the Guggenheim Hermitage Museum, which is designed by the one and only Rem Koolhaas. At the moment it has an exhibition called American Pop Idols, which is all about Pop Art. Cool, that's where I'll be!

One thing I definitely have to see is the Grand Canyon. My only motivation to visit Las Vegas in the first place was to be able to see the canyon. Maybe I can catch a Cirque du Soleil performance if I'm lucky. Dunno what else there is to do in Vegas... any suggestions?

Coldplay Concert

These are a couple of pictures taken during the June 11 Coldplay concert at the Molson Amphitheatre. They are so good at performing live! My favourite performances were: Politik, God Put a Smile Upon Your Face, Yellow, Clocks, In My Place, and Amsterdam.

Harry Potter!!!

I just received the Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix today! *Excited* I pre-ordered it through Chapters online and Canada Post delivered to my house. The delivery guy just rang the doorbell, left the package in front of the door, and just started to leave. That's not right... what if no one was home? It could have been STOLEN *gasp*! :O

Here's an excerpt from the back of the book:
Dumbledore lowered his hands and surveyed Harry through his half-moon glasses. 'It is time,' he said, 'for me to tell you what I should have told you five years ago, Harry. Please sit down. I am going to tell you everything.'

I can't start reading it yet as I'm still re-reading the 4th one... can't wait to finally be able to read the 5th one!

Site Design

Woo hoo, I've got the new design up! It's not perfect- I still have to do some tweaking and fix up a bunch of things, but this is the overall look of the page. It took me quite a while to do the title graphic and all the style sheet elements. *So sleepy* Would anyone like to QA this site? LOL. Comments and suggestions (and bug reports :P) appreciated!

Wha?? Dress Code?!

New dress code at work is business casual, that is, no jeans, running shoes, or shirts without collars... ! @$#&!! I don't have that many nice clothes for every day of the week... poo. AND no food around computers? This is nuts.

The Next Picasso?

I pass by this building every day on my way to work. It looks really nice in the early morning and late afternoon but I took these shots during the middle of the day so it didn't look that pretty. I hated how the sky came out... it's so white.

I created this for one of my assignments that was about grids. But it's not really grid-like (unless you want to say that all the grid elements were broken up and pieced back together) so I made something else to hand in.

Here is my lovely clarinet that's broken in half. You can't see the crack in these pictures though :P I was experimenting with the focus and lighting using my old-school camera, a Contax RTS.

Mama Coco's

I just received my Mama Coco's lip balm in the mail today! Straight from Hawaii dude! It's so great, it comes in a cute tin box and leaves your lips so soft and smooth. I got Tradewind Mint, which is a lovely blend of peppermint, vanilla, and coconut and only available during the summer. On top of my order, they also sent me a little jar of Red Hibiscus Lip Rouge, which is coloured by red rose petals... mmm!

Wow, I actually have my own domain name! *Cheese* This is so exciting!
Well I finally got this blog up and running... now it's just a matter of re-designing the page to look sexy ;)
