Happy 2005!

Another year's gone by so quickly! I can't believe it's already 2005. It was only back in 1995 when I moved to Toronto- a whole decade has passed me by!

This year has been a year of travelling and exploring. Visited Japan and California... and throughout the summer I felt like a tourist in Toronto exploring so many places for the first time! Here are some memorable events of this past year (good and bad) that I can recall with my failing memory:

Snowboarding for the first time (and killing my body) · trying Ethiopian food for the first time with Vanessa in Montreal · pulling an all-nighter for csc 369 then breathing in darkroom fumes for 3 hours standing having had no food for 12+ hours · csc 309 assignment 2 (waaah) · got my very first cell phone · travelling to Japan with Cass, Chris and Kris · disc golfing at Toronto Island · going to the Pride Parade with Cass, Tony, Chris and Jon · the Beaches JazzFest with Chris · camping trip for the first time since grade 10 at Samuel de Champlain · pigging out at the Taste of the Danforth where Chris ditched me and my friends · Dennis and I bopping to John Mayer in concert · watching Shakespeare's As You Like It in High Park · hosted a BBQ where me and the girls ended up working the BBQ while all the guys stayed inside the house chatting! · travelling on my own for the first time to California · volunteering at the Toronto Film Fest with Cass and Jen · seeing Metric in concert where the venue was dripping sweat from the ceiling · carving our cute pumpkin Winnie · attending my first Santa Clause parade · cooking dinner with Chris for my family that ended up being an hour behind schedule · Sandra teaching me some useful tips, haha! · and of course, meeting my special boy :P

Happy new year everyone! Party hard, but not too hard! :)

Crazy Kitchen Adventure #1

Christian and I were little iron chefs tonight cooking dinner for my family and Jon. We made stir-fried broccoli and pork with rice and shrimp scampi using the recipes from my Better Crocker cookbook :) The cooking took a lot longer than expected and we ended up having dinner at 9pm, but it was quite scrumptious nonetheless. For dessert we made yummy chocolate chip squares with cream cheese filling. Continue reading for the recipe...

Chocolate Chip Squares Din din

[Edit Dec. 19: Here's a couple of piccies of the food! :P]

Chocolate Chip Squares

2 rolls of Pillsubury Chocolate Chip cookie dough
2 8-ounce packages of cream cheese, softened
1 cup sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp almond extract

Beat cream cheese and sugar together until smooth. Mix in eggs and
vanilla/almond extract. Place aside.

Grease a 9x13-inch pan. Cut 1 roll of Pillsbury dough into 1/4-inch slices. Cover bottom of pan. Spread the cream cheese mixture over the
dough. Cover with 2nd roll of Pillsbury cookie dough.

Bake at 350 for about 45 minutes.

Happy Winter Break to Me

This term ended with my CSC 343 test this evening and boy does it feel good! And since I have no exams, I get almost 4 weeks off school :) The only thing left for me to do is present my mid-term deliverable for my capstone class around the 20th. I started the break off with watching The Incredibles with Chris, and I LOVED it! Tomorrow I'll be doing a lot of housecleaning and and setting up my art work for the EYEBALL art show on Friday.

I figured that having this much time off I'd be able to squeeze in a bit of travelling, like visiting Montreal or NYC (or both). But I wrote a list of things I want to (including left over things from the summer) and it looks like I really don't have that much time!

Christmas Break 2004 To Do List:
  • :: finish Japan scrapbook
  • :: label California pictures
  • :: document fall term art projects
  • :: build online portfolio section
  • :: update photography journal and photo albums
  • :: hang up posters; construct bedside table
  • :: start scrapbooking Las Vegas/California trips
  • :: double exposure photography experiment
  • :: cooking & baking frenzy
  • :: catch up on reading
  • :: capstone project
